new york a.f vandevorst guerrilla store

a.f.vandevorst have always preferred to meander somewhere between the worlds of art and fashion, and with a guerilla store just opened in new york, we see no shortage of avant-gardianship marching from their ranks. the nyc installation is officially titled 'the smallest travelling store in the world' and resides at patron of the new boutique in tribeca. a distilled version of their antwerp temporary store the idea behind the installation is not only to showcase the current collection, but also to demonstrate the ongoing fascination the brand has with stark hospital furnishings, uniformity and the collision of creative arenas.

the space is a combination of a neatly made retro hospital bed, a fabric screen, a mirror, a rack of a.f.vandevorst, a vintage closet, antique dentists lamp and a television. essentially a travelling mini hospital room. the resulting effect - a hybrid shop in shop with a medicinal twist. after debuting at dover street market in london, the installation has since been throughout the netherlands and now lands stateside. the smallest travelling store in the world is open to the public until february 23. location: 151 franklin street
